A brand leader in high performance ride control components was having problems scaling a shuttle valve into a smaller package size. Actuation and performance of the valve component was inconsistent due to the disproportionate impact of tolerancing at small feature size.
The Ask
The product design manager tasked Darcoid with improving the reliability of the design in a short lead time to meet an aggressive product launch timeline.
The Solution
We proposed a change in profile shape, combined with precision tolerancing available from our world-class manufacturing partners. Multiple iterations were fast prototyped on 24hr turnaround cycles using Darcoid’s in-house precision cutting capability.
The Success
Our customer was able to launch on time with a significantly more reliable product, maintaining their market reputation for premium performance. Ongoing predictable seal performance is assured regardless of influences inside and outside the supply chain by deploying Darcoid’s Seal Performance Creep controls.
